TomTom ONE-S Review
TomTom ONE-S 3.5-Inch GPS Portable Navigator with Text-to-Speech
I have many researches for a GPS navigation device. TomTom ONE-S has a few things which I really needed. Let me clarify you step by step.
TomTom ONE-S – Check Price!
TTS (Text-to-Speech)
This feature informs you the road name which you will be there in the next turn. I very love this thing a lot. Just one disappoint that it’s only functional with “Tom” speech. Other speeches do not propose the text to speech capacity.
Mapquest
Mapquest is sent directly to TomTom ONE-S. I love Mapquest and I have used it all of the time if I plan a trip to upcountry city. So exporting destinations directly to the TomTom is a good thing for me.
Free upgrade
Free upgrade one time after buying. One thing I really do not want to worry about when I bought the GPS device and then turned it around and I have to spend more dollars for updated the maps. If you buy this device, just plug it into your computer then download the TomTom Home software and a few process later, it will informed you that TomTom already had the up-to-date maps installed. Fantastic!!
Mapsharing
I am especially one who is interested in technical subjects, so I enjoy tweaking and idling and customizing my contrivances. Having the capability to modify/rewrite streets and places on the TomTom ONE-S was a good point. And if I hear that I can get kind of changes of other freaks like me is a big plus!
Well, I have read a lot of reviews different types of TomTom, and most people have reported problems were:
- The speech was not loud enough.
- Problems with the update of the device.
- The names of the roads are not loudly spoken.
- Need to change the device by hand from “daylight” background to “night” background. (Other devices change this automatically).
- Not enough POIs.
Clarify
If I drive a large-sized SUV that is age-old. Therefore, a lot of sound, lots of in-cable sound. Then I increase the speaker volume to an end and I can still hear TomTom sufficient. Well, if I turn my radio on, I cannot understand what TomTom is trying to say, but if I have the instructions to note why would I have my radio broadcast on in the initial position?
When I began the TomTom and it did not tell the names of streets. Then I checked the instructions and it referred that just the computer voice permits spoken the name of streets. I went to the settings, voices and went into the list of voice that particularly mentions, “Computer”. Once selected, I began to hear all the street names that I have wanted.
Have to change it by hand from daytime to nighttime mode. Of course I can know people who have other devices in the past which do this for you and familiar with it. So you must do it by hand selects a couple of settings, big deal. This is no different from converting the station on the radio? Or using your cell phone? Or putting make up on? I think that sometimes people complain simply because they can.
Not enough POI (points of interest). I always hear that other brands are recognized for their millions of points of interest. Can’t quarrel with them, TomTom isn’t good in this feature. However TomTom does have the capability to add them, that I really think is usable. Just driving through the list of POI to add was attractive.
Overall, for this TomTom ONE-S GPS, I like it!
