The Garmin Forerunner 101 is exactly the same as the popular Forerunner 201 with some small changes. The case is, I will not write the actual product, because whatever anyone says, the GPS functions in assessments of the Forerunner 201 will be found.
The most striking difference with the 101 is that there are two rechargeable AAA batteries like the 201 Istead used. At first I thought it was a great loss to buy it, but it’s really not that bad. Battery life is decent, but not as high as 201, which receives up to 13 hours of operation at full load. But if you’re not a marathon runner and just run a few miles on your runs, this should not matter much. The only effort is to go with the batteries in the middle of a race, the dead really sucks when you know exactly how far you’re gone. You must keep an eye on the life of the battery before leaving. The batteries are not really evaluate the impact or size of the product, however.
The second major difference is that this device with your PC interface. It is not too big of a problem, as is currently the Garmin is really lacking. I hope they will improve over time, but the PC is not as beautiful as it could be at this point. You can use a graph of your altitude for your run and view graphs of your pace and speed, and it was. Otherwise, the software is really bad. You can even zoom in on your map you want, you can with the device.
If you are seriously into service, I highly recommend the Forerunner 201 for this product, mainly because the price difference is so small. You can find the 201 for only $ 20 more than this model, and the extra money is worth charging the 201 and the freedom of the battery. But if you really can not afford the cost, you will not injure the very first one hundred

That being said, I give her 4 stars because I lack the kind of capacity on my machine (I am a geek Link Ultra). However, the battery life Lion only a maximum of three years – let anyone tell you otherwise – and 3 years will not be near his home life. Even if the box again, chemistry Lion begins to disintegrate after the day comes from the production line – part of the research on the Internet – so the number of iPods are all die immediately . Enough said
– AAA batteries, the main reason I bought it. The truth is, I rarely keep gadgets long enough to worry about batteries, but I like to convey to the family and friends and I would like something that can be used for some years. . . Moreover, as I put in a fresh set of batteries every week and not worry if it is fully charged. . . (I use rechargeable AAA).
All other guests have already covered the basics of the Clock. Very easy to use and is backlit at night, unbelievable. History and data collection are interesting. What I wanted to convey
is that I was on the fence about this for over a month. It was worth the money? Would I use it enough? Without a doubt – YES! If it was today I would buy a new tomorrow. Best of all: freedom.
I’m pretty anal – serious runners. I stand by exactly the same way, so I can find statistics to make sure I put my own pace, make sure I ran the distance I wanted to compare my race with previous rounds. After a moment, he can do even a little boring. Suddenly I have this on and I am free of all this. I can walk everywhere I go voluntarily – but a glance at my wrist and I know how I run, I know I’m keeping, everything. And contact little training is pretty cool – although I usually like the display of raw data. . .
I hope in future versions, they will be to incorporate a heart rate monitor. I have one, but now I can not stand simultaneously on both devices. . .

First Super easy to use. Turn it on, wait until they grow in sync with the satellite, click Start, and off you go. Press STOP if you want to stop smoking. Set the timer. The gun is now in the internal memory.
2 The unit has a highly sensitive receiver. Our neighborhood is very wooded, but it will be synchronized to win in our driveway, under a large maple tree and small Japanese maples. He considers it quite well in the streets. I did not run track – and tried again.
3 I do not think too intrusive. My beautiful wife thought it was a little too big for his wrist. It comes with a cord belt, trying to Melissa again tied him to think that in the upper arm. A disadvantage would not be able to see the ad, but if you’re only interested in shooting, this is not a problem. That, and most functions (mile markers, etc.) have beeper. I can not hear sounds on my iPod, though.
4 Nice Features – Clear display, good lighting. The backlight automatically when the device has a call for tenders (past another mile down speed, etc..) Management training is very enjoyable. If it is true if the Garmin Forerunner is updated, they could speed up and slow down in raids mounted (GPS altitude data).
Gripes:
1. The design of the device is not poor by any stretch of imagination. But, after the entry of iBook and iPod (not the small details such as International Power Adapter Apple is working with power supplies of both products’) are my criteria. My gripe is that the user interface buttons 6, any size and structure quite similar, is on the side of the device. One reason why I am skeptical about the third mile outside today because I thought, turned the device in error between the first and second miles. I stopped and he was again, but she slammed the odometer. ” Yes, I was a fool to push and hold the power button (like for 3 seconds, it’s not really easy to do by mistake), but the backlight is switched on by pressing the button supply.
2 is missing features geek GPS as a lat / long display, or the ability to distinguish between different GPS (WGS 84/UTM/etc choose – either you know what I spoke, or you do not care). There are workarounds I found (as I marked a waypoint at the current location in lat / long), but I do not think that getting rid of me because I always thought that my Magellan GPS 315 soon. I think it may be aimed at Garmin is a part – why give a large part of their market on a sub – $ 100 device. I think it will work backpack, especially if I take the time to pre-determined waypoints. But I am still essentially a map and a compass-type of guy anyway. And the 101 “back to the ‘function is to help me out of trouble.
3 There is no way to enable or disable GPS if the machine does can not acquire a satellite. There is no possibility of the machine where it is, if the initial purchase of a signal, for example up to 30 minutes the first time you turn on the device, or if you Travel over 500 miles of the unit. At my signal acquired practice in five minutes right of the box.

I heart rate monitor, altimeter, and software purchased as a teaching tool in the past. Their quality has always been subpar, and its usefulness is limited, a small group of variables. Inevitibly, I remain committed to the use of a pen, paper and a calculator to find much of the training I need the info. In addition, some of these gadgets have been useful to motivate me. I bought what we Forerunner 101, I just keep my distance and my pace as I ran. Because it is so incredibly accurate, I can run on the trails around my house, and yet how I went. The device has been designed very well. See the numbers you want are great. The readability of the LCD is excellent. The price makes the product a great value for money. The quality is exceptional. The unit itself is well designed – the design team should be congratulated Garmin. Yes, it’s a bit difficult, but for the functions it performs, it’s worth it. The Virtual Partner is a waste of time for me. But if I drive a race official, I’m sure I’ll use it. How many other guests, I would like the Forerunner 201 with AA batteries was equipped, I do not trust easily ion batteries last longer than three years. This is one of the best fitness products, you can buy!

The 205/305 are about $ 50 – $ 70 more than that, but if you can afford to swing, here’s why you buy this place. . .
The 101 is identical except that uses two AAA batteries instead of an internal rechargeable battery.
I bought the 201 when it is first time (~ 7 years) He was head and shoulders above the product Timex with the pod remotely arm and I would have rated five stars at the time, because it is the best type I have even been used for geocaching.
The problem is that I strongly recommend anyone who buys now – I was “Lucky” lost on this kayak a few years, how I improved the 305th It is sooooo much better now that I do the 201 as a comparison star. The 205 is the same, but without the heart rate.
First to have a very unusual form 101/201. The 205/305 is a bulky monitor, but the 201 looong to disable the use of gloves – a real problem for skiing, biking, etc.
Secondly – and most importantly Again, the 205/305 chipset SiRF Star III, it can lock and hold the lock better resources.
imagine if you are – you all pumped up and ready to run – oops, they are now waiting a few minutes to lock your position, otherwise it can not tell you your speed, location, etc.
My old 201 is much faster than my Timex travel partner (He was hanged from a tree while he was still ready blocked because it has often took five minutes or more to close.) that can block 305 would be in 5-10 seconds on most days during the lock 201 in 2 minutes * to take most of the time, but occasionally would be up five minutes. If you ~ 100 miles of your position, if the 201 would get up to 10 minutes for a new castle. ARRRGGGGHH block.
In addition the 201 would lose all the time, even when running in the cloud forest of moderate or severe. With the 305, I can even lock in my home most of the time.
Finally, the 101/201 does not lock when you move! The block 305, even if you bike. I believe even get a lock while driving.
Yes, the 205 and 305 are more expensive, but with the difference in functionality that I find it surprising that Garmin would retain the 201 given how much better to sell the 205 and 305.
S. s Do not bother with 405 Interesting concept but not practical. Read reviews.
I use for my bike and run, the direct link to your training mapped on Google Earth is fantastic! (The included software is more stable than the junk-polar, its management of human resources.
Heart rate strap is coded with a replaceable battery and comfortable. It is better, in my view that the polar products (which I heard three)
I want to avoid the 405 if you really want this clock as a normal wrist watch every day ( Use check-out of 405 reviews)
My only complaint is that it is easy to leave and run to the battery – which is a bummer if you only have to pay . I wish there would be an “Auto-off they would be closed if it does not detect motion or heart rate within an hour or two. Fortunately, with Li-Ion, as little as Free 10 minutes gives you enough juice for a drop of 90 minutes.
If you indicated that the review to be helpful to let me know!
