Hundred Year Flood
NEWS album description b>
Hundred Year Flood. The idea is that the general will speak for generations by a recurring one that has won everything. Huge progressive legends Trent and Wayne Gardner and members of their families had taken something too: a brother and a son, away in the heat of battle in Vietnam. The story here is, as opener Hundred Year Flood, The Great Goodnight “. Whether it is graphic and emotionally devastating. It is touching, and it resonates a kind of mind timeless knowledge quickly. But the event itself, as rare and poignant as it is, is not the Hundred Year Flood. The term refers directly to the act of merely talking about it can be an amazing story, told to keep them. “The Great Goodnight” is probably the Opus Magellan yet. It is a swelling roar source of emotion and their own seals the file that the legacy of neo-classical progressive rock. With Wayne for the trip are experiencing guitarist Robert Berry … more>> a>

The fourth album of Magellan. And how do we use, compared with any other group. As far as I’m Volume Trent Gardner on both the board and the heart of progressive rock. Again this album has everything, the vocal harmonies, sweet guitars, grinding guitars, keyboards (one rap progressive rock?). But the sound became much more mature. This is propably because the issue is the most important song, seriously (or at least more personal) than on previous albums. The first song is Great Goodnight long!) (Approximately 30 minutes the story of Trent’s brother Jack, who died in Vietnam when Trent was only four years. Impressive, that all I will say this. ” br> There are only two other tracks on the album, so we will not forget. Family Jewels is an instrumental track where attempts Trent Gardner, and his new synth, and where there is Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull ), assisted in his flute. A funny book. The third way, Brother’s Keeper, also has all the qualities of an epic progressive rock. There are more than 10 minutes and sounds more like the previous album of Magellan ( Test of Wills), a little more like the metal sound more aggressive. This is how people care only for themselves, rather than their “Brother’s Keeper”.
Conclusion: Can great album, I see no negative aspects whatsoever. OK, I’m a big fan of Magellan, I’m biased, maybe a little bit, but still. Get this album!

To put it simply, this is the first track (of three), the best way. It clocks in about 35 minutes all the way is brilliant. Concept is similar to how composers of classical music composed music, the title “The Great Goodnight uses” a lyrical and melodic theme in many ways throughout the song. Most groups simply take a prog complex riff after another and call it a song. (Dream Theater, Andromeda come at once) in my mind. The poems in “The Great Goodnight” is inspired by his late brother Jack, was killed in Vietnam. It’s Trent recalls and dealing with the vague memory of the death of his brother and his impact was his family that inspired the piece. He is very courageous and did unprecendted also for each band. Trent repeat composed of many different and creative ways that the same pattern in the melody. It is truly inspiring and moving. There are great songs and each new drummer Joe Franco becomes large drum sounds ala Marillion classic “Misplaced Childhood”.
title is called “Family Jewels”. This is a track by Ian Anderon (Jethro Tull), plays the flute on a pedal organ sound. Then Trent comes with some cool keyboard parts. Nothing dramatic here, but fun to hear.
The last title, although she has the title, no connection Goodnight Lakes. The track is “Brother’s Keeper” and is more than all the comments. Grammy nominated bassist and Stick player Tony Levin is a low, deep funky on the runway. It clocks in about 10 minutes and it Groovin ‘all the time! Wait about a minute or two at the end of the melody, and you hear, Trent a short dedication for losing his brother, Jack. You need to sit silent there too. . .
forget silly yes Sayers (Dork that of Minneapolis, a good example) and the album. I do not regret a minute to buy my copy. Listen to the great compositions is what you see what I mean. This CD is really AWESOME!

Magellan was once a fan since his first CD, “Hour of Restoration” and given the fact that 5 years since obtaining their “Test of Wills was:” I am excited about the new version of “Hundred Year Flood” (HYF)
When we first heard him I was a little surprised: Gone are the overly technical looking instrumental passages that say simply: “Hey, I can write and play such complex music” (this I like, by the way). Instead, focus on HYF tells the heartbreaking story of real older brother, Trent Gardner, Jack, who died in Vietnam when Trent was only 4 years. What matters is Trent learn what happened (not to mention grow) and how he remembers the important things about his brother (read the text while listening to music healed me, literally with tears – it is so sad) and how he wished he could have known. This is a monumental effort of Magellan – certainly their most mature. The music is simply magnificent and sweeping the various moods (sad, above all, though), given the subject. Very moving, and it’s getting better with every listen.
The Opus 34 minutes “The Great Goodnight” is the centerpiece. The other two tracks are throwaways in my opinion. One is a melody keyboard usage, the last “Brother’s Keeper” sounds like something that do not, it’s on the test of wills and not so great at first. Well, is the great Goodnight full of excellent musicianship, songwriting, harmonies and sound courtesy of Double Bass Drum Master Joe Franco. I urge all
HYF Magellan and all the fans who enjoy prog too. This is Spock’s Beard “Snow”, and Planet X “Moon Babies” Best CD of the year.

Most of this incredible disc consists of one song, “The Great Goodnight”. It clocks in about 35 minutes and is the emotional part of Magellan has ever written.
The song is one of Gardner Bros. losing his brother in the jungles of Vietnam. Normally, the words of Trent are much broader and allows the listener to decide their meaning. In this case, “The Great Goodnight” is much more direct and to the point. And how very emotional.
Said Magellan Each album is unique and does not sound like his predecessor. This is a group that avoids not afraid to take risks and, at least in my ears, prog cliches like the plague. Personally, I feel, therefore, some supporters incredibly insulting and negative in their comments. You obviously expect more of the same, but what they have to be very unique!
For fans out there who think Magellan suck, simply ask yourself why these musicians Magellan albums or projects side Trent Gardner as the Explorer’s Club, etc. performed:
Ian Anderson, Terry Bozzio, John Petrucci, Mike Portnoy, Steve Walsh, Steve Howe, James LaBrie, Kerry Livgren, Billy Sheen, Virgil Donati, John Wetton, Sailor Bar, James Murphy, DC Cooper, and crowd of people, other musicians of international stature. All these guys and do not accept to play with Trent, if it sucked? Somehow I doubt that many!
conclusion is that all of their own tastes and opinions, and Magellan is different is not justified. However, if you do not like music, there is no reason to be personally insulting to the man who wrote it. Get some opinions (outside of the most positive votes), hostile bottom right! Shortly
to get this album and give it a few listens. With Magellan you notice something different each time and eventually you will see how these guys are sincere. Oh, and remember to check solo flute of Ian Anderson’s song “Family Jewels”!

Look I `ma big head Magellan for 5 years now I have everything I own Trent Gardner has ever released, and I was blown away recently with Explorers Club 2 has rotated to waiting until they I had once expected the gap Magellan CD and the first half it was just that
First, it is very good but I think it’s a bit messy and has lots of ideas swirling around, be a little short on melody, of course, it has many drawbacks, but overall, its perhaps a little more than spoiled. Unfortunately, my biggest gripe is it’s a bit personal, I mean, I feal sorry for the Gardner family is lost, but these things happen, thats life. In all that I was very impressed by this CD, it started well and finished just kind of ok. The Ian Anderson flute solo was good, but I’ve heard better with Jethro Tull. I would be complete on this CD Magellan head, but for those starting out and want to know the brilliant man Trent Gardner is to buy Leonardo (recommend the absolute man) and Steve Walsh (glossolalia) Leader Trent is behind both CD `s and they are great for the first time Gardner. Test of Wills had to walk a few great songs like (fast, anxiously) Magellan this new CD is not in the heat balance of metals (test of wills), but also gives us a very good version, I missed Brad Kaiser if a great drummer. The Great Good Night 34:27 minutes is musically fantastic and the rest is running OK. I think, be avoided because of the very gradual nature of this CD, listening to an opinion on this subject in the first 5, let it work. Unfortunately, this and all Magellan CD `s are prey to a kind of negativity, I feel they need to lighten up.
