This is a great post, I stumbled across your article while looking for music videos. Thanks for sharing, I’ll be sure to come back.
Magellan is one of the most controversial artists on the label Magna Carta, due to the fact that, although they have all the characteristics of progressive rock, many true prog fans do not like it. As has been said, Trent Gardner has a style all its own. On their first album, “Hour of Restoration”, they sounded like Dream Theater to make an impression of Genesis of the 70s, more words, subjects might have come from a high school textbook. On this disc, singing in the foreground, and writing has matured a bit, but otherwise the analogy. The result, as always, some really innovative work, where many prog fans excited and leaves many cold.
advice on all the work of Magellan: try the “Age of Impact” of the Explorer’s Club first. This is the essence of all that Trent Gardner has worked, but played by musicians whose playing is already in prog-metal fans enjoying the world. If the writing style of songs you off automatically, Magellan did not fall, if not, then you try to give them and the other two.

I’ll start by saying that I am speechless at the negative reviews of this CD. This is true prog-rock. I have found in prog from the early 70s and is one of the best CDs of prog-rock that I have. I wonder it is sometimes a real understanding of the mass of good music. Trent and Wayne Gardner’ve Got It Going On! Great pianists with great talent, tapping into the prog bands of the past. Just think Doane Perry of Jethro Tull is a guest spot on this CD! I just want to say that all fans of prog this CD! It’s great from beginning to end! Excellent lyrics, good music! What more could you ask?

Rock Back when I first “discovered” gradual return to mid 90s Magellan one of the first bands in modern times is that I studied. At the time I thought they were incredible. Over the years I have had more mixed reactions to some of the latest album of the band, but it’s still one of my favorites. Magellan is fairly typical of the progressive rock label Magna Carta stable bands in the 90s. 70s style progressive Shuffle (rock with modern metal band mainly bombastic brothers Trent and Wayne Gardner) is a good album with good music and stirring words. There are three really great songs on the disc, and each of them at the top of the mark 10 minutes. The opener “Estadium Nacional”, the 2nd track “Weirdo Waterfront” and the number of channel 6 “Storms and Mutiny”, which tells the story of the namesake of the band, the discoverer of Magellan. The short instrumental “No Time For Words” is also good. The rest of the album, “Song Smith are” virtual reality “and the short closer” Under The Wire “All Filler pretty much. If you want metal bombastic prog rock with great vocal harmonies and historical / current text this album could there be for you. Personally, I think it’s the best album that Magellan has introduced.

I love this disc. The lyrics are interesting and range from the history of homelessness without moralizing. Since this is an old disk, it may be a bit outdated, someone looking for a prog sound more recent, but for someone who is a great keyboard sound with layers of vocal arrangements like this CD for you! In fact, the awesome vocal arrangements, and could easily fall into the premier class for quality and style. So if you’re a fan of prog, this is a great disc to spin.

I bought his debut by chance and was hooked. Buying my first heavy prog. So I had high hopes for imminent. Now, after a few plays, I almost dumped, but gradually the materials started to appear. Estadium National Waterfront Weirdos to 11 minutes more than the quality of their debut. Storms & Mutiny (the epic others) is more difficult to obtain, but it is a great song, after the first few frantic minutes. Song Smith, under the wire are forgettable. I can understand why opinions Magellan is how polarized. Whether he likes it or hate it. Then, a test of wills and 100 year flood are not to my taste.
